Technical Specifications

  • Custom application built on Microsoft SharePoint 2010 platform
  • Highly secure with a minimum of 128-bit encryption
  • Role-based access with username and password
  • Interfaces with existing hospital systems (e.g. OR, ADT and Materials)
  • Internet-hosted edition (Cloud Edition): 
         • Software and data are hosted on secure, off-site servers
         • Secure website is accessed with a web browser and internet         connection            
  • Each customer has a separate website with data segregated from all other customers
  • Application-specific data is persisted in individual SQL Server databases external to the SharePoint content databases, and isolated from each other
  • The databases are integrated with SharePoint via Business Data Catalog applications, which allows TRACS4Life data to appear as SharePoint Business Data Lists
  • Seperate domain controller and additional server used for point-in-time backup and recovery operations
  • In addition to the production environment, there are separate development and test environments
  • The SharePoint 2010 farm is deployed on two servers:
    • SP2010 - Web front end server plus all SharePoint services
    • SQL2008 - SharePoint configuration database, all content and shared services databases, individual TRACS4Life application databases, and SQL Server Reporting Services (to support TRACS4Life reports application)
  • Each customer website is deployed as a separate web application
  • Each web application has a single site collection with multiple sub-sites for different aspects of TRACS4Life
  • Sub-sites contain document libraries and other standard SharePoint features that customers can use in the ordinary way
  • Each SharePoint site contains a virtual directory referred to as “Workflow Webs”
  • These are applications which integrate seamlessly with SharePoint in order to provide functionality needed for Standard Operating Procedures within the application    
  • “Workflow Webs” are written in VB.NET 3.5 and may only access data specific to their customer site
